Dion was not only a marvelous singer, but like Bobby Darin, he was a real showman too. He understood the music business and approached it as such. Notice how he moves when he's on camera. Yes, it's true many doo-wop groups had "moves" but Dion realized that when a movie or TV camera was on him, it's the motions he makes that sells the songs. And he was smooth, eh? He understood that a smile wins everyone over. He wasn't afraid to put himself 100% out there when he performed or recorded. And to this day, when I see the clips of him with the Belmonts here on U-Tube of Dick Clark's Beach-Nut Hour, I can't help but always sing along. I see him singing "Where Or When" (an American songbook classic from Richard Rodgers 1937 broadway musical, "Babes In Arms) in full bore four part harmony with the Belmonts on that balcony with tears streaming down some of the audience's cheeks. I remember watching it on TV - yet another marvel of our age - in junior high school. Lovely memories.

the original mello kings version has that raw doo wop feel and should be the better version, but dion is dion the greatest voice of the era its better hands down
