I just got back my Strandberg Boden 8 string from my tech, who routed it to except these new Dimarzio Ionizer 8 string pups, so I figured I'd make a recording to test them against the Lace Xbars. I used the same patch as on my other video for Modern Meat, so it should be a decent comparison for a quick job. Demonstrates the neck and both pickups together, in humbucker and coil tapped config. I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor (http://www.youtube.com/editor)

I just listened to your Modern Meat cover and to me these pickups blow the X-Bars away in clarity and in body. I really want an 8 string and these pups. Thanks for the video

I bought myself a cheap Agile Interceptor 825 and installed Dimarzio Paf's in it. It's sound much better now than with the stock pickups, more clean and warm. Not so tin anymore, especially the neck.

The lace pickups were actually smaller than the dimarzios. These were fitted with the 7string active-sized pickups because of their magnetic feild being big enough to cover 8 strings and the tighter look, so when I switched them out we had to route space for the 8 string pup tabs.

Quick question, when you switched pickups did they fit ok? What I mean is I've seen people swap out the larger EMG looking pickups for ones like dimarzios and they always leave a big ugly empty space. Did these pickups fit the space perfectly?

The cleans of these are incredible, but so are the cleans of the Laces, and the only distorted clips I can find sound like ass. I'm thinking a d'activator bridge and ionizer neck might be the most versatile combo, but time will tell...
