11/24/96 - Ranch Bowl - Omaha NEDescendents absolutely killed it on a tiny stage on the back side of a bowling alley, did a few songs for an encore and it was damn near perfect. Some huge dude next to me starts chanting "Cheer Me Up, Cheer Me Up", and the next thing you know the whole place is chanting it. The band came back out after a minute or two and Milo said something like "Thanks a lot guys, it really means a lot!" and they slammed into the song for a second encore and everyone lost their shit. One of the best moments I've ever had at a concert.

Being sad from time to time is ok. Awesome songs like this wouldn't have been written if it weren't for that human emotion. But I don't feel sad when I listen to this song. I just know how the writer feels and that I was never alone with my feelings. No self pity here. Only time to move foward.
