To my knowledge it is not. It is on I tunes. There are several videos of Alex performing it live. There is also a video of him telling about the origin of the song, and it ends with him singing a duet with Tanya Tucker.

I met him last week, I had the pleasure of hanging out with him, and he signed my bass :) but this song is sad, its about his mother that committed suicide from pressure from his dad's family

My mother was engaged to Alex in her early 20s. She attended Murray State University. Good thing for me they never married. I love his music and soulful style.

Alex volunteered his time to play at a song writers concert fundraiser while I was the Director of Hospice of Cumberland County. I had the pleasure of spending the day with him. He could not have been nicer. He played his song for me and told me the story of his writing it for his mother. Great guy.

kingston 1201 You may already know this, but this is not Alex Harvey's original 1972 recording, but a much later re-record. His early 1972(or was it '71?) original pre-Tanya Tucker/Helen Reddy recording Is available on i Tunes. It runs 4:02 and has longer instrumental breaks

I was fortunate enought to meet Mr. Harvey and hear the story behind Dalta Dawn and hear it live from him. It sent chills through everyone and tears were shed. Very moving. He puts his heart and all his emotions into this song about his mother. He has written many songs done by other performers, check them out.

@larsgundy This original version seems to be much slower than the subsequent cover versions. Done in a much more bluesy style than the later versions by Tanya, Helen, and others.

His singing with that style sounds really forced... like he's about to puke but he's still trying to sing.

Wow the original!
