On this day in 1982 {January 16th} Del Shannon performed "Sea of Love" on the late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand'... One month earlier on Dec.12th, 1981 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #33 & spent 12 weeks on the Top 100... The song was his last of 17 Top 100 records, with 3 making the Top 10 and one No. 1 {"Runaway" for 4 weeks in 1961}... Del Shannon passed away on February 8th, 1990 at the young age of 55... R.I.P. Mr. Shannon and Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}
