When people talk about the roots of thrash/death metal, people are quick to mention the big 4 Metallica, Megadeth, Exodus, and Anthrax. Well, in my mind if there were a big 5 DEATH would be the next band on that list because they were there at the very beginning in the early 80's. Death don't get the recognition that the others have gotten and that is a crying shame because I think Death was way better than Exodus ever was. Death was not only a pioneer of thrash/death metal, I also think he was a pioneer in progressive death metal. Chuck Shuldiner was always on the cutting edge of music, and you have to respect that. Oh, and one more thing....THE PHILOSOPHER!!!!!!! >-O

Buuuut did you know the Ohio death metal band Necrophagia released their debut album "Season of the dead" in February 1987 a few months before the release of "Scream bloody gore"

Kam lee drew the logo. chuck was a massive hirax fan. john hand never played on scream bloody gore. terry butler never played the bass on leprosy. eric grief the manager of death palso managed morbid saint and produced their album pectrum of death and manged numskull who wrote ritually abused which are quite possibly two of the greatest thrash albums you never heard. chuck schildiner said if he never played in a band he wanted to be a chef. death toured europe in 1990 with kreator Sans Chuck and it was infamously known as the "Fuck Chuck" tour. i can go on with more stuff if you like!! i love metal!!
