REVIEW OF DEADSY PHANTASMAGORE CD

P. Exeter Blue I: Guitar/Vocals

Carlton Megalodon: Z-tar/Guitar

Dr. Nner: Synthesizers

Creature: Bass

Alec Püre: Drums

DEADSY TIL WE DIE

Despite the fact that musicians abhor comparisons to other talent, I do find that Deadsy's second release, draws on the depth of young-Black Sabbath. It is more rock now, less goth. One may hear RUSH similarities in the intense bass and extended chorus. The synchronized rhythms and beats are Alice & Chain-ish, with appropriate angst of Guns & Roses.

You may hear intensity in the impending harmony of Queensryche. You will hear Stone's Paint it Black and bits of Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song in Time. Even in Black Dreams, a distortion technique brings a touch of mainstream with Bon Jovi.

I didn't use to love Deadsy.

I started listening when I heard Cher & Elijah's version of Crimson & Clover, a cut above Tommy James & the Shondells. And got curious about Elijah's music (P. Exeter Blue I). I liked Mansion World on Commencement. I liked Key To Gramercy Park. And Flowing Glower hinted at the depth of original lyrics to follow.

The second track on the latest release, Carrying Over, is better than a continuation.

It is masterful, as is the amazing title track, Phantasmagore. Now I love Deadsy.

They are definitely Better Than I Know. The haunting medleys can transport me to Urantia-Land, drug free, anytime. Many are thinking they could win a World Music Award for Best Original English Lyrics.

And Media Future (myspace.com/media future) says

Deadsy has the BEST SPACE on MySpace.

**************************

Before his band DEADSY was born, I saw him, at age 14, play with CHER in Salem, Oregon. It poured down rain the entire time, but he never stopped once or even flinched or looked unhappy.

Incredible spirit and determination.

Deserving of his recent success.

Remarkable song and awesome solo demos.

Starting to appreciate the band. Still there is a cheesy quality to it. It is a lesser version of Marilyn Manson. I mean Elijah must have been obsessed with MM to bit mechanical animals this hard. He is talented I will give him that. (From his dad's side) but you have to be the son of two celebs to have the $ and the audacity to copy MM this closely when MM was big.

+dreamtheaterz28 Very similar situation dude. I heard Gramery Park years ago, the video came on a channel I had called "loud". I hated it, I actually mocked the song. About two years ago, for reasons unknown, the song popped in my head. I then felt compelled to Youtube it. I absolutely loved it, which then made me look up other songs by them. The next song I clicked on was Cruella. Having said all that, there is not a day that goes by that I don't listen to Deadsy now. Like I said before on another post. I attribute my dislike at the time because I wasn't aware of how deep Elijah's lyrics are. The music itself is absolutely amazing. Like you, I can only hope they reunite and I have a chance to see them live. The band was simply amazing and has altered my top 5 favourite bands without a doubt.

Im late on becoming a Deadsy fan. My ex used to listen to them, they were her favorite band, and the only song she would ever play for me was Gramercy Park. After that, I kind of forgot about them, but a friend showed me one of their other songs and I loved it. Now I've been listening to them regularly, and i really enjoy their sound. It sucks they arnt a band anymore, I just hope Elijah keeps going with music. Thanks for sharing this!

Deadsy may be gone, but my band has brought their sound back. If you really dig this band you should check us out, we were quite influenced by them. /watch?v=FM1Eq4vSUDw

hmmm...I do like Orgy. They are great. Maybe they sound a bit alike. I love the Candyass CD and Elijah is on one of those songs & vids, called Blue Monday, I heard. Also, Carlton ztarist and Creature bassist are both playing with Orgy now I heard ! Did ya know?
