Severance live in 1989

Severance...

the birds of leaving call to us

yet here we stand

endowed with the fear of flight

Overland...

the winds of change consume the land

while we remain

in the shadow of summers now past

When all the leaves have fallen

and turned to dust

will we remain

entrenched within our ways?

Indifference...

the plague what moves throughout this land

Omen signs

in the shapes of things to come.

Tomorrow's child is the only child

tomorrow's child is the only child

(Serpent's Egg, 1988)

The voice of Brendan is so beautifull, In this song his voice fluids smoothly with the other instruments, his voice is a human instrument that God gave to him, God bless you Brendan

I was in San Francisco and I had this on my Walkman during a big earthquake and I remember being really traumatized and smelling jasmine flowers and every time I hear this song I remember.  I saw everything move. Took me a while and I remember just focusing.

A LIFE STORY IN ONE SONG. This song, the music of DCD and similar artists f that era literally saved my life. In 1989 I struggled with depression. My girlfriend had walked out, my work, and most things in my life were empty. I had lost the verve for living. I was stuck in a rut with no apparent way out and when one is stuck as such the only thing he seems able to do is merely redecorate it. During this time this music, art, and nature reminded me there was always truth and beauty alongside the pain and suffering in life, and it was there to sustain us. I finally realized it would take some kind of life changing nuclear blast to save me and that it was my responsibility. I took a job in another city, bought and renovated an old house made new friends and even found a few clubs with my music and my people. I naturally became reconnected to life and the living. I met the girl who would be my wife and mother of my beautiful childrenand got on with the most important and difficult thing we do in life; marriage and family. 25 years later I find myself in  a new rut. Separated, lonely and depressed. Faced with divorce and the loss of my family. Faced with the creeping nemesis of aging and vitalities loss. There is no longer any enjoyment in life except for music, art and nature, but it will sustain me. Meanwhile I keep my ear to the ground for the next nuclear blast that will take me to a new phase of life. Thank you Brendan, Lisa, and all artists who have helped sustain me through life. I've compiled a long list of your work on my google plus channel as testimony to your life giving work. If a reader has made it through this entire novella I thank you for your indulgence. Be passionate about your music and the things that sustain.
