Zur Bowie-Doku "David Bowie Is", die ich heute Abend vorab mitanschauen durfte: Eine verfilmte Ausstellung, bei der sich die Macher des Victoria and Albert Museums doch allzu sehr in den Vordergrund drängen, fast so als wären sie die Stars. Das Ganze kommt dann auch teils entsprechend didaktisch-museal daher. Jeder Schnipsel und jeder Ton von Bowie sind allerdings kostbar und ein Genuss anzuschauen/anzuhören, nur hat man das allergrößtenteils halt schon in der Ausstellung getan. Eins wurde mir auch noch einmal klar: Die besondere Aura Bowies - neben der Größe seines Werks - liegt in seiner Künstlichkeit und Authentizität, seiner Entrücktheit und Vertrautheit, seinem Rollenspiel und seiner Identität, seinem Superstartum und seiner Bescheidenheit. Der Mann, der vom Himmel fiel, aber einer von uns ist. Das kommt alles schon in dem berühmten "Top of the Pops"-Auftritt des "Starman" gut heraus, der im Film zu Recht ausgiebig gewürdigt und als wichtiges Ereignis im Leben vieler Menschen beschrieben wird, die ihn damals sahen. Gerade wegen dieser wunderbaren Widersprüche passt die doch recht ausführliche Lobhudelei in dem Film nicht wirklich. It goes on a bit, wie unsere englischen Freunde sagen.
