Distressing melody that hovers like a prophecy, yet an invocation within intimidates the void: "...but we'll dance in the dark".

@INNERSOUNDVISION Agree with you 100%, Fiorella. It is difficult to find people who think by themselves, and don´t believe that what they watch and hear in the mass-media is the "absolute Thuth". David´s career is an example of a person who thinks and creates by himself, and he does not mind about the critics or whether his albums are going to reach the Top 1 in sales. He expresses himself, through his music , with absolute honesty. A big hug for you!

@queenofgoblings Bowie said that his themes were the same in 40 years, but he tried each time to question himself from different perspectives, whereby the relation between the self and the outside became increasingly dense with interrogatives. He expresses a "grave serenity" impeccably, with magnetism as much sweet as sad, as always without moral judgment: portrait of heathens in the 21° century, almost robots programmed to see only a small part of reality. I think I understand you, thanks.

This song is great! It always makes me feel a mixture of pleasure and pain, difficult to explain... This performance is awesome and David seems very happy at the open air concert. Thank you so much for uploading, Fiorella!

@ezaube1030 A classic ballad from an album full of deep reflections on the complex condition of human destiny. For me, in "Heathen", each track has great communicative ability and marvelous melodies with a fantastic orchestration. "Slow Burn" reveals a mature lyrical intensity, moving and involving, especially for the voice of DB so internalized: some say that it be a re-write of "Heroes". Thank you, sweet Michaela.

@MultiCathyU True! The origins are very remote, seems already in ancient Egypt: often the artists were entertaining the audience with a profane spectacle in front of churches, market places, institutional buildings, to attract extemporaneous attentions; were loved by the people, because spokesman for their culture. A strategic choice (pondered) of song and place? LOL Thanks very much for your shrewd observation, my dear friend.

@DinoLucca1 There is a pulsing bass that creates a perfect complementarity with the bewitching voice, noble, dramatic of David, for a song elegant, centered on an accurate intensity and density of the sounds. Bowie unique, I agree. As always ... Thanks for the watching and for the comment.

Wow! This performance looks like stylization for the performances of street artists..like it was many many years ago, centures ago..I like it! ...it looks very folk, in spite of the fact it takes place infront of Rockefeller's Plaza. Great! I've never seen it before. Thank you very much Fiorella! :)
