Dave's an absolute legend. His solos are filled with balls and aggression. As far as riff he is one of the greatest. I think Chris Poland was his best motivator as far as having the best contrast in styles. Poland's playing was the Shit!!

But its obvious he would rather have the name 'Metallica' behind him with those Credentials because the Nororiaty of names dictates album sales and most importantly selling out 5000 seaters or 250000 seaters.

My opinion on Dave's LEAD playing is this: He plays pretty much the same things, with the same patterns and motives. Thats a fact, and lets not hide behind our fingers. Listen to each one of Hangar 18 solos Dave plays, and then listen to Holy Wars solo. It follows the same mindset all the time. The same for Burnt Ice. Quick successions of notes, going either upwards or downwards with really fast picking. But that makes Dave a guitar prodigy is his riffs. His riffs are as impressive as anyone's lead guitar, and thats the hardest thing in my opinion. Not even most of today's technical metal bands play more complex riffs than Dave's. And before you judge me, im a huge Megadeth fan, and Dave is an idol for me for many reason. But truth must be told.
