Neo-folk from Germany.

Darkwood is an amazing band, and I HAD to get this song on here.

I especially love the horns.

Enjoy.

It's just that we'd wish neofolk bands started to get a bit free from DIJ's influence. That being said, I am a huge DIJ fan. I'ts just that I'd like to hear something new from time to time. Though this is sure pretty good.

Awsemoe. One of my favourites of Darkwood. DIJ inspirations? It's obvious!

It's not only Americans, and it mostly because of the scale of the second world war; it was interwoven into American culture to hate the Germans, just as it was Communism in the cold war and the British in the revolution. There will always be another 'enemy' and in time this will be another blip on the radar. So please don't think we're all alike :)

Changes are an American folk band formed in 1969 by cousins Robert N. Taylor and Nicholas Tesluk. Changes saw three distinct periods with rotating band members before their contemporary incarnation, heavily associated with the neofolk genre. Robert Nicholas Taylor, better known as Robert N. Taylor is an American musician, artist, Germanic Neopagan, writer and political activist whose musical projects include Changes and Soul Of Steel.

I would like to know why some people always feel the need to speak about Nazism on German neo-folk songs? I'm sure this sing isn't even about war...

@Dismal0rb That is a fairly silly statement to make, 90% of the bands in existence are copying someone to some extent. The amount of bands who are doing something unique are few and far between, stuff like Neurosis (who earlier were highly influenced from Amebix), and Dornenreich, who originally sounded for the most part like a Black Metal band with some different influences. If this is what you think when listening to this, just stop listening to music all together.

Read an interview. Death in June did clarify and solidify his ideas. But apparently we hat he was doing matched D.i.J. aesthetically

Darkwood is the exact translation for the area the compser was born and raised in. its a great name for the project. And im american, pagan and I love germany. Always will and would love to die there.

@Dismal0rb One could argue that almost every neofolk band copies Death In June to some degree, mostly due to the fact that they were the forerunners of the genre.

@DWDBL Ich weiß nicht, was Cultus Ferox mit Darkwood gemein haben (Das was sie machen, machen sie gut, aber es ist völlig andere Musik) und zu Halgadom möchte ich mich nicht äußern.

@MithrasAtDusk I would also recommend their 2009 release "Ins dunkle Land".

It's like a mix between Of The Wand & The Moon and Death In June

A rather sloppy name for a nice-sounding band.

My comment was a response about the singers vision for Germany, and yes, many leaders and countries have done equal or worse damage than the Nazis. Hitler was an infant compared to Genghis Kahn or even many Roman emperors. Americans are brainwashed though, and will hate and love what they are told to.
