RIFF-it good.Play MusicSee I'm tryin' to start this rock bandAnd my drummer really needed a kitHe's really into Bonham and OzzyYou know he really likes to hitSo we spent our days lookin' at drum ads'Cause neither one of us had a jobWe circles this one cool offer'Cheap drums ask for Bob'So we jumped into my PintoAnd we flew over to his placeWe ran up the stairs and knocked on the doorEnter Robert's faceNow ol' Bob was a drummerHe lived with his kit in GlendaleWeddings and bar mitzvahsHe'd do any gig for half-scaleWith his five-piece '69 SlingerlandSilver two-tone glitterHe played her skins like a gentlemanHe didn't like to hit herLike a mime with a megaphoneLike snow comin' down in summerLike Dr. King with a submachineLike rock 'n' roll and Bob...Bob the drummerNow he fixed us both some coffeeHe let me play his snareHe lied about the good old daysAnd how he ended up hereWe let him go on for hoursTalkin' 'bout one-night standsHe said you gotta pay your dues sonI said I think I understandHe didn't give a crap about the Grateful DeadSabbath or Pink FloydBut when he got down behind that setOld Bob could make some noiseChorusWe wondered where the time wentAnd did I still wanna buy some drums? My throat went dry and I felt kinda sickWhen I offered him two hundred onesHe said he guessed he wasn't ready to sell herYou never know when there might be a gigHe shot me his best Mona LisaAnd took the last drag off his cigWith his Mr. Rogers sweaterAnd his velvet Elvis eyesHe stared into oblivion and saidOh how time fliesChorusRepeat

They ARE huge, it's the record industry that got small.

Hell yeah.

It blows my mind, too, but I understand it, in a certain respect. It's a testament to the mediocrity of the masses.

lol! yeah, pissin' in the kitchen sink, as you say, is worse. Reminded me of the movie "Office Space". Being disparaged by one's intellectual inferiors on a daily basis is a soul crushing experience. I've enjoyed most of the jobs I've had, but have experienced a bit of that myself...

what about the millions of bobs out there withering away who had no glory days? Far more sad pining over the 9 to 5 and pissin' in the kitchen sink

This is like the coolest song ever! It blows my mind how dada never got huge... My favorite band.

@carmel1119 couldn't have put it any better. Poetry in musical motion. I've always felt kind of sorry for Bob, hoping someday he'll get another gig, but deep down, knowing that probably isn't going to happen, ...the hope is still there. I, too, once had a '69 Slingerland. Thanks for listening!

"in his Mr. Roger's sweater with his Velvet Elvis eyes, he stared into oblivion and said 'Oh, how time flies'" ...what a sweet line... and on that note...poor old Bob, how can you not feel sorry for this character? an aging old man withering away - fated to spend the rest of his days pining over his long gone glory days...it's so sad. -- Oh well, hey ravenschwartz, thanks for the Dada uploads!

One of very few friends that I acquired while living in Chicago (85-90) put this on three tapes he composed for me. I am not a drummer, just another soul that appreciates good and unique fucken music ! Mike R.I.P. I miss you bro ! Thanks for the memories !
