I love Cyndi's performance of Joni's song. deeply moved by the words and music. love the slower phrasing. both of these women are powerful and wonderful. we are blessed to have these gifts from them. the tribute performance in 2000 was better, but still - any chance to see, hear, be in the presence of such greatness!

Love both Joni (I love the original) and Cyndi (a very good cover). Both extremely intelligent ladies which is turn on beyond belief. Who the hell designed this costume? Looks like a bad stain on the back of the pants. An accident. What was anyone thinking?

@voiceontheleft Wow. Very well put. Maybe my sentiments should have been better contirved. I sometimes forget that a song SHOULD be interpreted rather than carbon copied as I have done with Mitchells work in my carreer. Being such a huge fan of her music has perhaps stunted my ability to have listened more closely. Thank you.

@ApollonianKing : That's really only a matter of opinion. You may think it's hollow, but I've always found Lauper's arrangement of it to be far more striking and affecting than the version on Joni's Blue, which seems rushed, and in the context of the overall album, feels like a bit of a throw-away. The song never resonated with me in any way at all until I heard Cyndi perform her version on the Joni Mitchell tribute.
