this is definitely different than the original. it does have more punch, and this is definitely a 12" recording, aka a vinyl cut. long live vinyl!! sounds so much better

I agree. Thisnis nthe version for the video with the Gregorian Chanting over the part you timed out for us. Also, I was up late one night in the 10th grade when I first saw the video for this and ran out the next weekend and bought Doppleganger. ^_^ One of my al time favorite bands and records!

@jonasbjarki In fact, i think the tunes are almost the same, but this version is more punchy and agressive. There are more effects, more drums, more high frequencies and it is more "fm compressed". You can hear the two tracks are not the same at the entering break (there are added drums on this one - cymbal hit at 0:11 as an example). But there are formally almost the same, that's why they have the same length. They just sound different.

@JosephKuby "Galaxy" is heard during a car scene in "Mysterious Skin", but it's still a Gregg Araki movie.. He must be the ultimate shoegazer director.

So is this exactly what's on the record? I wanna buy it and I don't want it to end being some weird remix I didn't want.

@jonasbjarki and I think around 3:09 the "cry" lyric is sorta etended too, right?

I think what you have here is the 12 inch version that is labeled "remix" and maybe has a few touches that most people won't notice? my two cents always loved this song-bought the cassette after hearing this on the radio!

the only part i notice that is different is the extra vocalizing around 2:13 - 2:30. with some harmony effect on it. but yeah, it is pretty much the same track on the doppelgänger album. i first heard this song when i was in the 9th grade in 1993. it was on a mixtape that i stole from my friend's older sister. i played it for all of my thrash metal and hardcore punk friends and we all fell in love with it. thanks for posting! cheers to all the other dorks out there!

Dorks rule. Nothing to be ashamed of whatsoever! I can't find the difference, either?!?!
