Here's a great song from Crow. "Thoughts" is from their debut album: Crow Music released in 1969. Crow is best known for their hit single "Evil Woman (Don't You Play Your Games With Me)," which was covered by Black Sabbath less than a year later, as well as "(Don't Try To Lay No Boogie Woogie On the) King Of Rock and Roll" and "Slow Down." (Which are more on the hard rock/blues boogie side).

But this song is one of their most psychedelic, and dare I say, progressive rock songs they've recorded. This song is just full of emotion, especially on the more dark and sorrowful side. This is easily one of my favorite songs by Crow.

Lineup:

David Wagner - Lead Vocals

Dick Wiegand - Lead Guitars

Larry Wiegand - Bass

Kink Middlemist - Keyboards

Denny Craswell - Drums

===LYRICS===

I Look into the dark of night

and see the sun in glory's flight

I gaze with wonder at such things

as plastic men with silver wings

do my eyes believe what they see?

I look over the windless way

to shivering lights on the bay

I see the vast and changing man

turning into grains of sand

what does this mean?

My eyes he took with face turned white

and screamed into the sky with fright

why must we fight?

I cannot cry for anything

for I sit by

while they can sing

Enjoy!

Its not a brutal rip off. Spirit didnt originate that riff. Sure zep took things but alot of it was early on when they were just starting out. Had no time to make the first album especially. Greatest band of all time regardless of stealing at times. They have plenty of originals. Trust me i know where they got some of the songs but how could a cover band if thats what you wanna call them come up with kashmir? ITs like an oxy moron. The reason they did was because they were a brilliant band.

whoknows , l mean Jean Genie is I'm a man , is that plagerism,l think not ,it's eveloution of a theme ,either way it will always lend itself to new refreshing breaths of inspiration in artests , shit , did Chuck Berry ever sue the stones for plagerism ,shit ,l'm sure ther'd have to be at least one legitimate clame ther somewhere right , and they all out right stole Robt Johnson progressions as the bedrock for rock ,and blues , so let them say what they will ,just play it your way...

People SO want it to be "plagiarism" "rip off " I just listened again, & hell yes it's the first thing you think of,if Page did & he probably did mimic a tiny segment of Taurus, how does that account for the other 99% of Stairway, how much constitutes plagiarism ?

We dont insist ,or even imply that the Stones plagerized Chuch Berry all those years ,yet they frrly admit there love ,and homage to the man's progressions and harmonies.Todays music is a very complex evolution from the first time a string was plucked together with a drum being pounded ,and that started a trend to find sounds that were pleasing, and an attempt to continually expand upon them. For years I wrote songs begining with Neil Youngs favorite 4 or 5 chords, did that make me a plagerist, No

I would have to agree with your theory ,Just because Page took hold of a decending minor progresion ,I personally could never find myself calling such a homage to such melodies plageristic . I've listensd to the Chocolete Watchband "She's Lonely" and I really loike the song , but I never got a hint that Stairway was yanked out of it , nor do I get that feeling from "Thoughts " , granted , thoughts does immediatly bring Stairway to mind, but it's a completely diferent song .

Spirit is 1968. This one is '69... Hm, but I think this sounds a LOT more like Stairway even if it also plagiarized Taurus (I was surprised it had it's own "rock/scream breakdown" by the end) And I have a theory.. maybe Page got influences from a lot of other songs to make Stairway, listen to Chocolate Watchband's She's so lonely..!

stairway to heaven is a brutal rip-off that was recorded by zep a few years later. Maybe not of this song, but they did lift it off another band. check out "led astray" an album of songs they plagarized, or there are websites dedicated to it. This is coming from a huge zeppelin fan, and I'll say it again, they did all the songs they ripped off better than the originals. I thought it was just the blues stuff, but when you research, it gets pretty disturbing. zep is still the best imo.
