Lyrics:

This is the woman

Who had all the answers

The one I would lean on

For comfort, for strength

She's never forgotten

One grandchild's birthday

Now she can't remember my name

And it makes me so angry

I shake my fist

And cry out to the heavenly one

Why would you play

Such a cold hearted trick

I thought your job was to love

And the answer came down from above

She's gonna fly

When her time here is through

First she'll have to let go

Of some things she can't use

'Cause people and places

Memories and faces

Are just way too heavy it seems

To carry on angel's wings

This is the woman

Who saw things so clearly

The one who could pick out

One crumb on the floor

She saw through a white lie

Saw me through love's eyes

She hardly can see anymore

And it makes me so sad

And it just isn't fair

Why should so much be taken away

But when I cry out

For all that she's lost

I silently hear someone say

She's gonna fly

When her time here is through

First she'll have to let go

Of some things she can't use

'Cause people and places

Memories and faces

Are just way too heavy it seems

To carry on angel's wings

And oh, the wonders she'll see

And I know she'll remember

To watch over me

She's gonna fly

When her time here is through

First she'll have to let go

Of some things she can't use

'Cause people and places

Memories and faces

Are just way too heavy it seems

To carry on angel's wings

To carry on angel's wings

My mother died Wednesday and the funeral is Monday. My daughter picked this one to play for her and it so fits. Wonderful! A heartbreaker, but wonderful just the same.

A good friend passed this song on to me..All I could think of was my mom whom passed away in 05-03-11..I cry when I miss her, I pray that she's with our Lord happy, and pain free. I pray she is with my brother/her son Larry.. I speak to her sometimes and tell her I love her..R.I.P. my precious mother. I am blessed to have had you as mine.

I lost my grandma and great grandpa to Alzheimers and this song makes me miss them so much. Alzheimers is a horrible thing and I hope one day there will be a cure for it!

The first time I heard this song was when I saw him in concert preforming with the Salt Lake Orchestra. It was so moving I don't think that there was a dry eye in the room. This song is amazing and I think that it has something for everyone to relate to. Thank you for posting this song.

I've been helping take care of my uncle for the past three years. He was my resident at a local nursing home and I've been helping take care of him at home. He doesn't even know who I am anymore. It hurts even more knowing how much he and I meant to each other when I was little.

I had this song played at my mom's funeral 4 and a half years ago. She had suffered from Alzheimers among other things like seizures and mini strokes, a major stroke, a broken hip, all in the 10 years after my dad died. I don't know why she had to suffer so much. She never harmed a soul, was the church organist for 50 years and it was in that church where this was played. Thank you Collin for this song. I enjoyed Collinfest in '08.

My Mom passed today. she was in a home and 9 years ago we said our goodbyes when I moved to Canada to be with my bio parents. She was scared of Alheizemers so she wanted to do it than in case I came home and she didn't remember me. She might've been an adopted Mom but she was more than that to me. She was a friend and support and raised me to be what I am. I know right now I'm babbling but...well it's my Mom and she would've loved this song. I love you Mom.
