I think your interpretations of Liz's lysric are a little retarded, but I like to interpret other peoples comments.

no. She pronunce "Hazel" in this song, just like she pronunce "hearsay please" in "hearsay please".

I hear "tan-tan tan-tan tan-tan tan-tan, Ngo, ngo, ngo, ngo... tan tan tan.. tango on the floor". Tango being angry music, that's probably where I imagined that.

i thought she was saying SATAN SATAN SATAN, RECOIL RECOIL RECOIL!!! i love the fact i can interpret my own lyrics up to the cocteau twins. i think this is one of their best songs they wrote. i love their early darker sound.

@doxielov No one can come close your so right, but its great that other bands are wanting to create a similar vibe again, we need this sound back again today so badly.... Cheers doxielov, great to hear from you my friend....!!!

I remember a band called "Lush" trying to copy the sound of this amazing band back in the early 90's...didn't even come close.

@squishyoprahtacohair Your so right, awesome beat going with this classic track, love that rawness of vocal by Liz in the earlier songs, its an amazing EP for sure... Great to hear from you my friend...

Oh, I love this EP! It seems like they really focused on the beats for this one. I know they do focus on percussion sounds throughout each album, but this EP especially. Also, the little growls Ms. Fraser makes at the start of some of the lines reminds me a litle bit of Bjork....

Yes, there is another version in Garlands. It contains backing vocals by Gordon Sharp that adds extra power to the song, and is really missing here. Still a great track!

Hi mate..good point, it is a bit short.... Their may well be a longer version on the re-issued "Garlands" album, I think they did add extra tracks from the original LP, I,ve got the original "Garlands" on vinyl.. and on CD, but also the 12inch with this track on,"Peppermint Pig" not sure if theirs a longer live version too on the sessions? You have great taste mate, its good to hear from ya....keep on listening...!!!

The only complaint I have about this track is that it's too short. I wish it was at least twice as long. If I'm not mistaken, there is another longer version on the 'Garlands' CD? Along with 'Peppermint Pig' it's one of their best songs. Thanks for posting!

Cocteau seem to hate this 12" single's guts - I say, it their best work to date. Despite they made great stuff before and after it. 'Peppermint Pig' EP is stunning work - the title song, 'Laugh Lines' and this one, form a masterpiece of pure tension.
