Sounds more Transatlantic/Genesis than Dream Theater IMO.

For the record, this was a pop tune with acoustic guitar and vocals, just re-arranged and made more "hair metal". If memory serves me right, time signatures outside 4/4 existed before a certain American band made it trendy.(Yeah we stole from everyone and made it VERY obvious. It's just worth mentioning that it was an 80's ripoff as much as it was DT and all those bands. Oh, and ELP and Genesis, but copying 70's bands isn't frowned upon for some reason....)Oh well, to us it was just a ton of silly humor and it still is. :)

Oh, by the Nine Hells of Baator, stop with all the "dream theater" comparisons....don't get on that bandwagon.

It was Mike Portnoy who growled in DT, not LaBrie.

I know this CM album with this cover since 2007.

Nope, I think DT don't even know CM, just the guy who made them cover artwork used the same unicyclist picture...

it's him but very badly photoshopped... if you look closer to a dramatic turn of events cover, he has white gloves which doesn't fit to his arms at all, then ultra large hat and strange trousers (same thing as with hands). And his left arm is just mirrored right arm... I really don't know why DT did that...

The Progressive Metal Kings paid tribute to the band that started off covering their songs.... O.o

This banf is the shit... so much more melodic thanx to the superior vocals and a guitar player who is pleasing to the ear without getting to commercial...

Uhm...so DT copied CM?

Just to clear things up even more; they even used the same stock photo. I have seen it online somewhere. Here it is: istockphoto (dot) com/stock-photo-100513-acrobat (dot) php

Don't get me wrong though, I really like DT as well. But it's not like it's controversial to say that they have their influences, like anyone else. They seem quite open about who their musical influences are. I'm sure if these bands that people are beating each other over the head with in comment sections met, they'd get along great and have a good time. Fans tend to go waaay overboard on behalf of their objects of admiration - be it black metal bands, progressive bands, or... Star Trek.

Wow, the comment sections of progmetal videos are like conventions of religious zealots. All caps, really? Obsessively 'preaching the word of almighty DT' on every other progmetal band's videos, really? As for Xibir and B-i-t-s, they both have the throat singing, the choir, the strings... just listen. Sure it may be a coincidence, but they share a lot in common. Anyway, I hear a lot of influences of other bands in DTs music. Oh, and I bought 1st Chapter many years ago, and it has this cover.
