Legendary guitarist with The Police, fiercely iconoclastic composer and songwriter Andy Summers has teamed up with singer songwriter/ multi-instrumentalist producer Rob Giles (The Rescues) to form Circa Zero a band poised to blow people away with its unique brand of rock and roll intensity. Taking full advantage of an immediate musical chemistry, Circa Zero recorded their debut album Circus Hero at Summers studio Bowl of Cherries in Venice, CA. Co-produced by Summers and Giles, Circus Hero is an exhilarating musical ride created by musicians dead set on launching a long term vibrant endeavor.

Fresh off The Police reunion tour, Summers was intent on remaining in the rock world after years of pushing the boundaries with his solo projects. The two-time Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer was energized to record again and his search for a musical cohort ended when he discovered Rob Giles performing with his band The Rescues at the Troubadour. Circa Zero is an exciting new chapter for both of them the name referring to both starting with a blank musical slate to create a wholly unique sound, a sound with few if any ties to the past. "It's an uncategorizable rock record, built around great songs that we are both extremely proud of, stated Giles.

Says Summers: "From the start, we were on the same team going all the same places together. That kind of feeling is very rare. I had it with Sting but there s been no one else since then, so it is very magical when it happens. This is that thing."

Awful camera work.

Perfect example of why a band needs two guitarists... or a keyboard... or something to fill the hole that was left during the guitar break.

I liked it. It was interesting guitar from Andy, which is not suprising. And I think the drummer has really good chops. I get why folks here would start comparing to the Police in some respects, but remember that Andy would take Sting's songs and reinvent them really. So the Police sound had a lot to do with Andy's guitar work. Good stuff here!

I am gutted. I have followed Summer's career in Jazz. And I definitely believe Summer's in Rock is wasted, as he sounds really bad. He is just not a Rock guitarist. In Jazz he sounds great! The band in general sounds like a bad U2. Please Andy let go of the Police and go back to playing Jazz! I mean how can you beat all those jazz albums?????

5 out of 5 review for this live show in the Examiner "What does "high score" mean? New high score, is that bad? What does that mean? Did I break it?" look under examiner.com/review/circa-zero-featuring-andy-summers-and-rob-giles-debut-show-at-the-el-rey?cid=rss

She is an incredible drummer. Definitely, check out Emmanuelle Caplette drum clinics. They are not in the studio. This is a live recording. I do believe you might be put off by the sound quality of the recording.

Guys, hurry with the CD. Can't wait to hear the studio version of this song. Sounds great live! Andy, in the upcoming tour don't forget to include some songs from Fundamental. Great songs on that CD too... ( Of course on CZ version! )

As a huge fan of The Police and Andy Summers, this is just plain awful.

Time for the great Summers to come back to some rock sounds (except for the Police reunion).

this is a good break from andy's solo records. Jesus does everything andy does have to sound like the police? If you're a fan of his solo stuff you know what I mean and i've been waiting a long time for andy to to some rock stuff even though I do like his jazz work
