Booze and Blues was recorded by Ma Rainey (or 'Madame' Rainey, as she preferred to be called) in 1924 with jazz band accompaniment. Charley Patton borrowed the melody to record two of his songs, 'Tom Rushen Blues' and 'High Sheriff Blues'. In those songs he tells us about his encounters with the local law after a drinking spree.
Patton's lyrics are highly personal and therefore not really suited so I chose to sing those of Ma Rainey;
although I never been in jail and I hardly drink :-)...you could say I'm singing them for those who been there, done that and even got the t-shirt...
Open G tuning/GDgd but a 1/2 step up.
