MUSIC AND HAPPY FLOWERS.
Charlie has the feel for music..he enjoys grooving and listening to other musicians playing, performing & creating magic music.Boogie woogie is the root of all popular music now, he comments .IT IS.Charlie loves swing. Drumming to swing sensational cause he gets absorbed in the pace and racy rhythm. Piano playing is outstanding. Each sparky notes just bounces off the keyboard.

Charlie reminds me of Ringo, he knows how to ride the groove....He's not a show off, cause he's got nothin' to prove..Good show mate!

@MMRJL Cool! Like the man himself. I once tried to get tickets to see him at Ronnie Scott's, but no chance - sold out in a flash.

I met Charlie in 1978 at Franks Drum Shop in Chicago. He is a great drummer and a sweet man.

@chungiemunchin Yeah, I agree. Apparently it's one of reasons he doesn't take solos - it (usually) doesn't fit the song. Am reading Keith's book, and he reserves a lot of space for Charlie's drumming. He's unique I think - he can do power, but swings as well.

I was surprised that boogie woogie drumming carries with it that jazz ride pattern. Cool. I have to admit, I am strangely drawn to Charlie's minimalistic approach to the drum set! He really does approach the drums from a very musical direction. He is one of the great examples of the statement that the drummer should drum to serve the song!
