*Oh lord, I went to church one day, fought ahead and tried and pray**All to hear the preacher plow that gospel plow* *Hold on, hold on, keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on**The preacher said I must repent so right down the aisle I went**Keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on**Hold on, hold on, keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on**I've never been to heaven that I been told**It's a first-class city in the streets of gold**Keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on**Hold on, hold on, keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on**Matthew, Mark, Luke and John**All them prophets is dead and gone**Keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on**Hold on, hold on, keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on**A Paul and Cylus bound in jail**Had no one to go their bail**Keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on**Hold on, hold on, keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on**A Paul and Cylus began a new show**The jail was open and they walked out**Keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on**Hold on, hold on, keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on**There was Peter so nice and new**He wouldn't let the savoir wash his feet* *Keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on**Hold on, hold on, keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on**Peter grew anxious and he said,**Wash my feet, my hands, my head**Keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on**Hold on, hold on, keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on**I got my hand on the gospel plow**I won't take nothing for the journey now**Keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on**Hold on, hold on, keep your hand on the plow and you'll ride on*

Ebbene c'era una volta, tanto tempo fa.. i vivi .. qui si sta parlando che la "musica è viva" evviva.. ebbene c'era una volta, tanto tempo fa, molto prima del 'prima'..

A great version. Interesting to read the demarcation disputes. I thought 'blue grass' preceded 1945.

"Appalachian music is the traditional music of the region of Appalachia in the Eastern United States. It is derived from various European and African influences, including English ballads, Irish and Scottish traditional music (especially fiddle music), hymns, and African-American blues." -The Internet

No. Old timey. Mountain music. Some similarities to stringband. NOT bluegrass. This style is much, much older than bluegrass. Pre-Civil War era even. I'm just an avid listener...not an expert. Plus I grew up in the mountains...

Appalachian music is NOT bluegrass necessarily. There is mountain music, old timey music, contra music, and just plain fiddle music. It is much older than bluegrass. My great grandpa grew up playing it when he was a child & he passed away when I was in the 6th grade in his 80's. I'm in my 60's. It's an old, old genre. Bluegrass is new, as far as time goes.

well, bluegrass is a young brother. old timey so called music was played when Bill Monroe's grandpa was around and maybe before.

Who cares what it is? - it's Chance McCoy and The Applachian String Band. They have a fine, original sound. I've listened to the Debut album countless times and the style never gets old. That wisp of feminine harmony in Gospel Plow floats above the vocal like a breeze in the trees. Also recommend their rendition of "Little Pink," as best I've ever heard. Keep up the great work!

Beautiful music, regardless what you want to call it. However, if you want to be specific. I'd say Appalachian root music. Early bluegrass,

I don't know about the disciplined thing...but I strongly concur that this is not bluegrass...I love Scruggs' work...I prefer Old Time...but there is some great bluegrass music that has been made since 1945, when Bill Monroe hired Earl and the first "real" bluegrass band was formed

Not really "bluegrass" at all. Stringband music is not as disciplined as bluegrass. If a bluegrass picker heard this they'd let ya know fast that this "ain't bluegrass" That said, I'd rather hear a clawhammer banjo anyday than the Earl Scruggs style picking.

If it's Appalachian Music then of course it's bluegrass.
