My 19th video in a series I'm working on for some of my favorite songs from the past.

Catherine Wheel is one of my last great favorite bands. I began listening to them when they released Chrome and several critics made Pink Floyd references in regards to their sound.

Their album Adam & Eve from 1997, which included the song "Phantom Of The American Mother", is one of my top 5 albums of all time. I was really looking forward to doing a video from this album but was faced with the usual difficult choice of which song to do. Nearly every single song on the album is a favorite, but my first choice would have been "Ma Solutida", but there is already a great video for this one. There were so many great songs to choose from; "Goodbye", "Future Boy", "Here Comes The Fat Controller" & "Broken Nose"....all of which I'd love to work up something for one day. However I just had to do "Phantom Of The American Mother" because it references some material that would make it really fun to play with.

This band has some strong Pink Floyd influences and it really shines through on "Phantom Of The American Mother". If you like Pink Floyd and are not familiar with this band....you are in for a real treat....dig in and prepare to be amazed.

Obviously one of the primary elements of the video is footage from Aldrich's 1962 film What Ever Happened To Baby Jane....still powerful, creepy and a blast to watch. Also are bits of Sonic Youth, Superman, and Cinderalla (fairy tales). I retained some sound from some of the bits since they seemed to work well, but it's always a hard choice to do so because you can easily interfere with the music if you over do it.

I really like the result of this effort, but as usual, as soon as it's posted things stand out where improvements could be made and I feel the usual desire to take it down and fix it.....oh well. Hope you like the result.
