When I was a child, 40 years ago, my brother and I were exposed to horrible child abuse for nearly 7 years. I remember us being very poor, we only had a radio and it was this wooden box. I thought(with that childlike mind) that there were little people inside of there and that they sang all day. But when she sang, something changed, it was like I was hearing greatness beyond all of the other noise, like standing in front of something you know is unique among all of the others Her voice always took me to another place, particularly during Christmas. We were finally rescued and time went by.And Then, when I was in my 20s, as a young man, I'd drive threw the wealthy area of my town, along the beach front homes, on Christmas Eve and pear into the homes, hoping that one day I'd have that for my family and again it was always with her voice on the radio.Fast forward to today........ that life has become a reality for me and for the last 14years, everyone comes to my home for Christmas, with their kids and for a weekend, I live inside that music box with Karen Carpenter's vision(the rules are for the adults, no drinking, smoking, swearing and you can not talk about anyone in a negative way......the surprise is that everyone comes and no one violates those rules). My brother always reminds me of the past every Christmas he hears her voice.Thank you Karen......without you......My brother and I, could not have imagined this wonderful possibility.Our hope, is that where ever you are, you've found peace and love as well.We will always love you.
