If you are not completely familiar with this group, search for the vidios of them playing with the Cheiftains, or Giddens singing in Gaelic. These musicians are way more than a novelty jug band.

They expend such energy and quality in their performance and instrumentality - Heard them several years ago by chance;because of their unusual name originally - Got several of their albums since then and always enjoy watching their videos.

Learned today Dom Flemons is leaving the Carolina Chocolate Drops to pursue a solo career. Rhiannon Giddens will push on with the band as their last original member. In a lot of ways I am not surprised, both Dom and Rhiannon are too talented, too ambitious in that 'one life just ain't enough' sort of way to be contained by just one band. I can't be sad they are parting ways, just grateful for eight incredible years of music. Here's to the future! Here's the original Drops (Dom on banjo) with "Your Baby Ain't Sweet Like Mine."

From an anthropological perspective I have to laugh my butt off. My family of Jack Mormon rednecks, from Montana and Utah, living in Alaska, sang songs just like this. I have awesome childhood memories surrounding this song and others. Thanks, CCD, for everything you're doing.
