Musicians like this just don't exist anymore. The Carolina Chocolate Drops are a rare treasure! Sheer geniuses keeping the rare roots to all of modern American music alive! I am truly in awe.

@22grena. You are correct that some of the roots of this music is Scots/Irish. But it is also, American Slave in origin. Those instruments CCD play are original, if not in manufacture, then in usage. Negros brought the banjo to America. Notice how most of the banjo picking done by CCD is claw hammer style, which predates Earl Scruggs's three finger picking style. Many of american negro song styles, including question and answer and their style of gospel enriched early blue grass. Then later Jazz, Blues and on and on. Truly and uniquely American music.

I'm Irish. We would call this a reel. But absolutely brilliant anyway. Super band hope you come to Ireland soon.

This is FANTASTIC! I didn't know these kinds of performances were still possible in this millennium... I was under the mistaken impression this manner of performing was lost save for the grooves of priceless old records. Beyond that, I haven't seen anyone move like that save some dancers on vintage silent film shorts from circa 1900... this band has it DOWN man!And I totally agree with the hard things looking easy bit... I can't dance at all, but I have friends who are good dancers and I still don't think they could come close to this... touche' !

She seems to just float...effortlessly. That's what it is about people with great talent. They make hard things look easy.
