The thing that makes me prefer BBf is that Rusty does what every shredder can do, but faster. BBF can do what only BBF can do. But faster. And his own technique caracteristics (playing with thimble and fretless guitar) gives him a very pleasant to the ear sound. And "musicality-wise" i prefer him too cause he can do WTF and crazy stuff as well as amazing song, with nice lyrics and all. his 2 albums "Normal" and "the adventures of bumblefoot" will show you what i mean.

I'd honestly have to respectfully disagree. Although what he does IS technical and clean, it doesn't have the small details in it that bumblefoot's playing does. Bumblefoot's style will incorporate ridiculously hard details inside of licks that you almost can't catch on first listen, and play in different time signatures with each hand while playing fast. Although not as fast as Rusty, I do think Bumblefoot has an edge up here. Coming from a huge Cooley fan.

Looking into the tiny details of bumblefoot's playing, it's completely apparent he's equal if not better than a lot of those players. Those are all, including bumblefoot, some of the world's best, so it doesn't really matter who wins, but bumblefoot should definitely be in the list.

I love Bumblefoot, Rusty, Marshall, Tobin, Paul, and yes, Shawn most of all (check out his piano work, my GOD), but that's my opinion. You are all mentioning some of the top tier guitarists in the WORLD here. Instead of arguing who's 'better' - understand that what you really want is to play like them. SO GET TO IT! PS. I love this song and album. 'Vomit', 'Dummy' and 'Drunk' are other particular favourites. Sing the latter in the shower.

Being faster does not, in any way, equate to being better. Bumblefoot is more technically adept compared to Shawn and Rusty. Just check-out his guitar solo on the song "Turn Around." He's got way more crazy stuff in his bag of tricks than those two.

Technique wise Shawn Lane and Rusty Cooley are definitely better than Bumblefoot.

technically, no. You haven't listened to all BBF's stuff, some of his songs are technically better than the guitarists you named here (whiwh i find good although, except cooley)

Talking guitar with good ol' Fluffy here, is like squeezing orange juice from an apple. What is there to be discussed with a guy who systematically looks for BBF clips to abuse them to proclaim his mancrush on Buckethead? I mean, I like the guy too, but to claim that he invented 8-finger tapping?? Complete madness! Just like the adoration for Cooley. Cooley is the equivalent of an aspiring writer, who tries to do so by learning the dictionary by hard (without undertanding grammar etc)...

Gilbert is eons upon eons behind Ron in terms of technical proficiency, mr. Fluffy "Buckethead-invented-eight-finger-tapping" Popcicle. You have proven time and time again that you have a very strong (fanatic) bias against Ron, an encyclopaedic ignorance towards him and guitar music in general.
