This is an A/B comparison between the new Bugera TriRec amp and the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier (non multi-watt), from which it is based upon. All of the EQ settings were the same, as well as the power tubes, speaker cab, mic, mic position, etc.

The point of this video is to know the differences and a given setting, NOT TO DIAL THE AMPS AT THEIR OPTIMUM.

Signal Chain:

Schecter SLS C-7 - Maxon ST9Pro+ - Bugera/Mesa - Fastback 4x12 w/ Eminence Governors - Shure SM57 - Presonus Studio Channel - Logic Pro 9 - YouTube Nerds

Huge thank you to Bugera and Jacob from Into The Flood for letting me use the amps for this video!

Over all I prefered the Bugera. I liked the Bottom end on the Mesa. I have a T50 and it is impossible to get a thick chugging low end. seems like I hear that on the Trirec as well.

I think bugera tubes are for show and really just have metal zone circuit in there

I’m the mix the Bugera wins. The Mesa disappears...maybe cuz it has more of a scooped sound.

Years ago when peavey first released the triple xxx I was dead set on a Marshall or a Mesa. Guy at the store talked me into trying the XXX out. It sounded better than the Mesa at less than half the price, and I could fairly easily dial in a more Marshall like sound too. Went into the studio and the engineer said "don't bother bringing that in, I got a Mesa triple rec already." An hour of dialing in plenty of good sounds but just not my sound and I convinced him to let me bring in my cheap ass Mesa knock off. Guy was blown away. He literally got pissed because he felt like he'd been robbed by spending all the money on literally 3 different Mesa heads. I've tried a lot of gear. Unless you're literally playing drop tune meat head metal a Mesa isn't that great, just expensive. I looked this up because I've been curious about the tri rec for a while. So far I'm impressed.

Bugera sounds more in your face (presence) than the mesa

For me, I think the Mesa sounds better. I love my Dual Rectifier and the nice savage sound I get out of it. The Trirec does sound good, but I heard some stories about the reliability issues and picking up radio stations. For me, I can't have that at all. I need my gear to work properly, and I need to rely on it. That's why I went with Mesa, I'm pretty sure my amp will outlive me.

I believe the Mesa needs some dialing to sound brighter, a "same settings" comp was not a good idea, at least for the Boogie.

The Mesa sounds like it is quieter and has less treble/presence in the video. Turn the Mesa up and hear the REAL results.I've owned a Bugera. Not a horrible amp for the price but in the room it does not compare IMO to a Mesa Rectifer.

Not a fair comparison as the Mesa is not dialled in right and sounds like shit at those settings. It should have been about matching sounds that suit each amp best not having the amps dialled in the same spot. On the other hand it does show that Bugera sounds freaking great

Damn. Bugera killed it. That's coming from an avowed Mesa dual rec fan.
