Yeah, we've all heard Pachelbel's Canon in D Major. But have you heard it played on the steel guitar? Sounds like a weird idea, but Buddy Emmons is the master of the steel guitar and he made it work. This is a beautiful rendition. Lots of overdubbing, of course, and that must have been very difficult. I added some nice nature pictures and it turned out to be a beautiful video.

Bad people give you experiences. Worst people give you lessons.Good people give you happiness. Best people give you memories.

Sounds really great. I would have never thought to play this on pedal steel.

Fabulous, been a fan of Buddy Emmons' contributions to many records over the years with his self acclaimed best lick being on 'I just seen a face' by the Dillards as one of the first I heard. He takes the instrument beyond the realms of redneck comfort to a higher plain of sheer pleasure. Good on you mate. I just heard this yesterday when fooling about listening to my daughter's old school orchestra playing the same tune!

Well, I didn't say it was a weird idea, I said that it "sounds like" a weird idea. Until you hear it. Then it's not so weird at all. It certainly hooked me, and that's why I made this video, because no one else had. Funny, Buddy didn't like his performance of this song for some reason. Fine, Buddy, I respect your opinion, but this is a true masterpiece. I'm glad I made this video. And @LordOvWaffles, I put steel guitar at #2; dobro is #1 for me. Fiddle #3, mandolin #4.

Now... wait a minute... How is playing this piece on a steel guitar a weird idea? This is one of the loveliest sounding tunes ever and the still guitar is one of the loveliest sounding instruments ever. Seems like a pretty logical match if you ask me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I use PowerPoint to make my slideshows I use what's called a "Fade" animation for my transitions. It has three modes, Slow, Medium, Fast. For most of my slideshows I use Fast, unless it's a slow song, then I use Medium. I don't think I've ever tried Slow. I'll check out some the other animations available. Most of them (spinning, swirling, bouncing, etc) are too distracting. I stick with the subtle ones.

Bought it when it first came out on vinyl. Just occurred to me to look on YouTube. Great album. Re: the video. Very nice. Just as an experiment, try longer/slower transitions between some pics, maybe 2 or 3 sec. Occasionally fade to black with a pause before fading in next slide.

This is my all time favourite piece of classical music and to hear Buddy play it on pedal steel is just superb. Buddy once said in an interview that of all the instrumentals he did this was the one he was least happy with, technically.........mmmmm? Does not compute .

I once spoke to Buddy about this piece. He overlaid 5 tracks to get it. Great stuff and when I first heard it, it was so unexpected. Classical!

Still got the original vinyl and the cd. I enjoy messing with it myself, just playing different parts in no particular order.
