We take care of our ownNous prenons soin des nôtresI been knocking on the door that holds the throneJ'ai frappé à la porte qui tient le trôneI been looking for the map that leads me homeJ'ai cherché la carte qui mène à la maisonI been stumbling on good hearts turned to stoneJe me suis heurté à des coeurs (autrefois) bons changés en pierreThe road of good intentions has gone dry as boneLe chemin pavé de bonnes intentions est devenu sec comme un osWe take care of our ownNous prenons soin des nôtresWe take care of our ownNous prenons soin des nôtresWherever this flag's flownPartout où ce drapeau flotteWe take care of our ownNous prenons soin des nôtresFrom Chicago to New OrleansDe Chicago (jusqu') à la Nouvelle OrléansFrom the muscle to the boneDu muscle (jusqu') à l'osFrom the shotgun shack to the Super DomeDe la simple masure jusqu'au Super DômeLe Super Dome est un Stade, géant, de la Nouvelle Orléans qui peut accueillir 80 000 spectateursThere ain't no help, the Cavalry stayed homeLes secours ne viendront pas, la Cavalerie est resté à la maisonThere ain't no one hearing the bugle blowin'Il n'y a personne pour entendre le clairon sonnerWe take care of our ownNous prenons soin des nôtresWe take care of our ownNous prenons soin des nôtresWherever this flag's flownPartout où ce drapeau flotteWe take care of our ownNous prenons soin des nôtresWhere're the eyes, the eyes with the will to seeOù sont les yeux, ces yeux qui ont la volonté de voirWhere're the hearts, that run over with mercyOù sont les coeurs, débordants de pitiéWhere's the love that has not forsaken meOù est l'amour qui ne m'a pas abandonnéWhere's the work that'll set my hands, my soul freeOù est le travail qui libérera mes mains et mon âmeWhere's the spirit that'll reign rain over meOù est l'esprit qui fera régner la pluie sur moiWhere's the promise from sea to shining seac'est assez dur à traduire car c'est la dernière phrase de l'hymne Américain "America the beautiful"on pourrait interpréter ça par "Où est la promesse de jours meilleurs"Où est la promesse de mer à mer scintillante Where's the promise from sea to shining seaOù est la promesse de mer à mer scintillanteWherever this flag is flownPartout où ce drapeau flotteWherever this flag is flownPartout où ce drapeau flotteWherever this flag is flownPartout où ce drapeau flotteWe take care of our ownNous prenons soin des nôtresWe take care of our ownNous prenons soin des nôtresWherever this flag is flownPartout où ce drapeau flotteWe take care of our ownNous prenons soin des nôtresWe take care of our ownNous prenons soin des nôtresWe take care of our ownNous prenons soin des nôtresWherever this flag is flownPartout où ce drapeau flotteWe take care of our ownNous prenons soin des nôtres...

"Ain't no help the Calvary stayed home / ain't nobody hearing the bugle blown ". In two lines Springsteen sums up Katrina , and the state America is in this guy has a way with turning a phrase like noone else except maybe Dylan....I'm so happy I discovered this guy fourteen years ago in highschool. He's so damn inspiring!

Heard this today on the radio and couldn't help think that it was completely ripped from Life of Riley by the lightning seeds

@murdockp1 Some of us get it here in the US Murdock. But some still have to have it explained about what Born in the USA really means. We Take of Our Own will have to be explained to the same folk I suppose,

@jeffkasky er I dont think so....listen again....and look up the oxford english defination of the word Irony.....a song with a verse that refers to the adandonment of 50,000 stranded people in a football stadium by the national govenment is hardly tub thumping patrioism.

Do you guys in the US do Irony? We get it here in the UK in spades, but many of you guys have tears rolling down your cheeks thinking he is being sincere and celebrating america? I remember the Superdome in New Orleans...... a sad day....

In the middle of all this angst, I am sending out huge hugs and more huge hugs to Bruce. Hold on to the memories of the absolute very best and funniest moments you have had in your life with Clarence. When you have had someone of his stature traveling through this life with you side by side, there has to be a very stark empty hole in your soul. Busy helps, and I sincerely hope for that emptiness to subside and for you to feel whole again very soon. God Bless Bruce Springsteen!!!

. So instead of buying a Springsteen ticket why not help buy Grocerys for a lost or help pay a heat bill to take care of one your own in the real world.

Could be a good year for fans in Europe. New single, new album and then Tour Including the Isle of Wight Festival with Tom Petty on the same bill. For people of a certain age it does not yet much better than that.

Love the sound! Had to read over the lyrics a couple times to understand the Boss's message; I can see why some see it as an ironic cop-out on the current state of budget slashing, poverty-bashing, love-the-rich America. But hey... we know Bruce, right? He would never affirm that. Have to believe it's another of his working-class anthems on our behalf... the title is a wish, not a tribute to reality. Rock on, brother! You're an inspiration. Solidarity.

*The Boss** is about to release his new 'State-of-the-Union' LP where for sure the story of a ripped-apart American Dream will be told, where among the smoking ruins of the dismembered US society will raise again some fighting-spirited blessed souls...*Where have you been living Bruce? How long will you still take care of us all?
