My son, born 2002 said "Mom, I'm just like the kids in the 60's, I'm growing up hearing about war." I found myself flashbacking to the 70's when the Vietnam vets were being treated like crap and the draft dodgers were returning to America or attempting to become permanent Canadian citizens. I remember turning 18 the year this song was released and my mom's hatred of that opening monologue . She'd do her best to talk over it, make noise or even say "You've had enough of MuchMusic, time to turn off the TV" if they announced a Bruce Springsteen video was coming up.
