Since it won't let me reply to comments, I will throw one out there to several I have seen, commenting on the song's popularity (or lack of it).The reason James Mercer is so likeable is that he doesn't come off as a money-grabbing whore. He might be, but I'm not aware of it yet. Anyway, his music definitely reflects that, even if it relies on a few cornerstone pop structures. Since radio stations are essentially just one spoke in the giant marketing machine known as capitalist USA, most of them are probably afraid to play it. Why inject a slow-killing poison into your own vein?I doubt most people in this country have any idea what his songs are about (even the ones who just listened to his music). To them, this stuff probably sounds like a handful of marbles thrown up in the air.
