LOVE this song. I was only 11 in '76 but I played the bejeesus out of this album. I was on iTunes recently and downloaded this and a few other songs from Silk Degrees. I was shocked that I knew all the words without missing a beat. If I remember, doesn't the back of the album show the same woman's hand but her fingers are crossed....? Anyone else getting a strong Jimmy Fallon vibe from Boz's picture above, LOL?PS I too read/heard somewhere this was about a guy in prison for rape or something, who breaks out to find Georgia again...?

One of the biggest LPs (if not the...) of 1975 in OZ. Seem to recall that this song was based on a true story re a guy who was jailed for statutory rape with a 14 yo girl he was in love with. Kind of sad...

One of the best albums of the 70s - Silk Degrees was nominated for the 1977 Album of the Year Grammy along with Breezin' (George Benson), Songs In the Key of Life (Stevie Wonder), Chicago X, and Frampton Comes Alive! Tough competition! - -Stevie won, his 3rd Album of the Year Grammy win in 4 years...

Georgia was an unusual cut for Boz Scaggs ... He did mostly Slow Jams ... This song was more of a 1970's pop-rock disco dance song ....Cheerleader captains trained their school kickline's to the beat of this song....
