In other words, there is no such thing as 'good' or 'bad' everything exists in nature and we, as emotional beings, apply a moralistic judgement to what we perceive. One person's suffering may be another person's delight - and I do not mean that in the infliction of suffering but the actual suffering. Typical 'woe is me' self-pitying, 'the-world-is-going-to-hell-in-a-handbasket' self-indulgent offering. 'Love' is not a concept. It's a biological chemical that one's body produces which keeps the cells and the whole of the organism working at an optimum level. Boyd has looked at it from the angle that most people do - with emotions. Take away the emotions and learn to quiet one's mind until one reaches the state of understanding 'universal love' and then the science behind becomes apparent.

Perhaps you're misunderstanding his words or taking this as a personal attack but this is simply a critique of the inherent problem with the "accept everyone and everything" spirit of our times. He did not say love is the cause for war, instead he said that it allows it to subsist. Note this is a form of art so it is slanted however he isn't entirely off.
