I've listened to this timeless song countless of times since I was a child & have grown to love it very much. But it took me years before I understood it. I think Joni's Mitchell's brilliant composition is one of the most meaningful songs ever written.

Perhaps only after we've experienced & contemplated both sides of love & life can our hearts be complete.

I can tell your sensitivity & that you are a very lovely person. It is a very beautiful song, isn't it? It expresses life as we know it so well. We often have to hide our emotions, especially when our love is not reciprocated. We'd get on with life by hiding our sadness & pain behind laughter & smiles. Life is more bearable that way, I guess. I only knew this version which I absolutely love. The video is also a perfect compliment to the song. It's happy and sad at the same time - which is what she's saying I guess....clouds,love,life. It's how you perceive your memories. I love the line about not showing you care because you will give yourself away. True but so sad. Leave them laughing as you go.
