The first few bars where he plays around the opening melody around the violin just awesome just from the expressiveness and melodic mastery....anyone can improvise on a chord ..but his best work is sheer lyric poetry.....perfect in every way. Incredible that anyone can play that well on two fingers...There's actually someone on youtube who tried to re-create his solo from Running Wild....and even kind of messed it up...lol...even with 4 fingers and time to practice.. Django was a monster technician ..can you imagine if he didnt' get half his hand burned in a fire.....Well guys, I doubt they'll ever be a movie about him because it's a niche category of music really....Jazz alone has a rather small audience relative to other types of music....And then, this is a form of jazz peculiar to France....and to French gypsy music at that....so a subcategory within a subcategory within a category.....although ideally i suppose all music can be thought to be a universal language...But also a lot of time has passed since he was roaming our planet....it should have been done years ago...France should do it....they have a subsidized film industry after all...There are some BBC documentaries about him though....
