"Softly, As In A Morning Sunrise"

Softly, as in a morning sunrise,

the light a love comes stealin' into a new born day.

Flamin', with all the glow of sunrise,

a burning kiss is cealin' the vow that I'll betray.

For the passions that thrill love,

lift ya high to heaven.

Are the passions that kill love,

and lead ya down to hell!

Same old story,

softly, as in an evenin' sunset.

The light that gave ya glory,

will take it all away.

For the passions that thrill love,

and lift ya high to heaven.

Are the passions that kill love,

and lead ya into to hell!

Same old story,

softly, softly as in an evenin',

sunset, sunset.

The light that gave ya glory,

will take it all away.

Say Richard? I don't wanna be a drag or anything,

but the title of this tune is 'softly',

so could we do it that way please?

Softly, softly as in an evenin',

sunset, sunset.

The light that gave ya glory,

will take it all away.

Bobby Darin those killer eyes and those killer moves, WOW…… Bobby the man who could do anything, did and then even some to top it all off…. The greatest entertainer in the world in my book and one heck of an actor too…. This is real music by a truly exceptional entertainer who captured his audience within his hands and thrilled you to the moon, the stars and back again…. Bobby's music brings me to tears because he is the only one who has been able to touch the inner depths of my soul and heart…. Bobby's ability to move so smoothly between all styles of music is something he achieved with total ease, but few others have been able to do this…. Bobby the real swinger in music who showed them all how it should be done….. I miss him dearly and am grateful that Bobby Darin graced this world of ours even for only a few short years, but what an impact he made, what a legacy he left behind…. Bobby thank you for the awesome memories I have of you, you are missed, remembered and never forgotten…. Bobby you rest in peace my friend.

Never realized how slick Bobby Darren was as a kid. Never liked that " Splish/Splash" crap, but his jazz renditions are tops. Michael Buble's admitted idol.

No doubt, a Nature Boy and particularly in this one, totally breath taking. The part of "say Richard......" makes me smile wide open, so ironic and wild

What a talent!! He could do everything...sing, dance, play piano and guitar, do impressions a one man talent show!! Oh, how he could work a crowd....had them in the palm of his hand. And here, he had the great arrancements of Richard Wess...the two of them went to so well together....we may never see his like again.RIP Bobby....you are very much missed.....

ctnd...too little folks are carrying the torch of the Great American Songbook, real crooners/lounge lizards/all-around entertainers. Few of us are out here trying to keep it goin tho ;)

OMG-the break with BD dancing is the END! LUV IT! Great stuff, thx for posting! Anyone else catch how he bends that last note, the last measure and a half of his singign? Could be taken as off-pitch but I think its on purpose, really odd (for the time) choice=shows the jazz influence BD and his good friend (Richard) Burke & Billy (May) colored this LP and most singles in the 59-62 era. Damn shame we lost him so young, and a &$*(#^@ shame so little of the original swingers & singers remain..ctnd
