On this day in 1961 {August 9th} the Universal International Studios movie 'Come September' opening in theaters across the U.S.A. and Canada... It was Bobby Darin's debut movie and co-starred his wife of eight months, Sandra Dee...The movie has the distinction of being the first movie to be shown on transcontinental and intercontinental airline flights...Four months later on December 18th, 1961 "Multiplication", which was featured in the movie, entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #86; and on February 11th, 1962 it peaked at #30 {for 1 week} and spent 10 weeks on the Top 100...It reached #5 on the United Kingdom's Singles chart...The record's A-side, "Irresistible You", peaked at #15 on the Top 100 and stayed on the chart for 13 weeks...R.I.P. Mr. Darin, born Walden Robert Cassotto, {1936 - 1973}...

Back to Mr. Bobby Darin at # 3535. The song was the flip side of # 3410 and I believe this one was the "A" side but the "B" side ultimately became the bigger hit. I remember hearing "Multiplication" before "Irresistible You" on WMGM radio. In fact, these songs might have been on the last of the WMGM surveys before that revered station morphed into WHN featuring music for our parents. Let me check. Yes, but only # 3410. So maybe # 3410 was the original "A" side but I bought the 45 because of "Multiplication". Over the years I slowly and then rapidly enjoyed # 3410 more and their spots on the survey offer the proof. Now let me look for a video. By the way, I bought the 45 with a picture sleeve which of course is now valued higher than the vinyl itself.
