From the album Modulate. Couldn´t myself find this up here, so here it is...Fan clip! Enjoy Lyrics follow (i wrote them up how I heard them anyway)

a thousand questions awaits you

may you find the answer that you seek

today is the first day of the rest of your life

today is the last day for the wait

I´ll give you the answer

once i know the trade

just give me an answer

and then I´ll know the trade

And it must have been so hard

they renamed your bulevard

on the day of your parade

i bet you thought we had it made

but now i know

we know the trade

the answer lies within your soul

may you receive an unexpected reward

rely on instinct in times of trouble

let all the confusion be ignored

I´ll give you the answer

once i know the trade

just give me an answer

and then I´ll know the trade

And it must have been so hard

they renamed your bulevard

on the day of your parade

i bet you thought we had it made

but now i know

we know the trade

I wont let anyone disturb you

I wont let anything awake you from your sleep

its not important and we both know it can wait

piece of mind .......(soooorry cant really tell what...)

I´ll give you the answer

once i know the trade

just give me an answer

and then I´ll know the trade

And it must have been so hard

they renamed your bulevard

on the day of your parade

i bet you thought we had it made

but now i know

we know the trade

Do a YouTube search for a live recording of Hüsker Dü performing this in December 1987. Much more dirge-like back then.

It's sad this song never made it to the studio during the time Husker used to play it live. This era of Mould's career is so awkward, so retrograde and such an about face for so little reward. Making new order / pet shop boys versions of his old tunes was just mind-blowingly disingenuous. I wish he could've just demo'ed this shit and gotten out of his system without sullying his incredible discography..

I love this song. I remember hearing it for the first time while I was working at Tower Records in Hollywood and flipping out over it. I can't believe it's been so long since it came out. I remember it lime it was last week!
