He's just imitating Luther Perkins

That doesn't look like Joe Maphis though that is his guitar and he played regularly on THP.

@sonicpainter It's not Joe Maphis though his name is on the guitar.

Joe Maphis - world's most unexcited rock and roll guitar player. Not even getting whapped in the shoulder with another guitar (~1:45) phases him. Wow.

They obviously tried to imitate Johnny Cash & The TN-2. Bob "acts" like John who often moved his head like this (well, not exactly like this LOL), and Joe Maphis acts as Luther Perkins not moving at all. This is somehow the same kind of performance as Johnny's "Heartbreak Hotel", which was an imitation of Elvis :D

You can hear Luman singing "Red hot" with style like Billy Lee Riley's one and here you can see him doing this sounding as Johnny Cash. I don´t know his style.

The guitarist :D Talented fun, like dkfelix said, that's it I think - good job on a classic. I think Luther and the guitarist here knew each other probably (I think even if they didn't meet, they had the same job, so they maybe had that "community feeling" in this time) and this is a nice "Hello" to Luther, done here :-)
