I do not own this music; Bob Dylan does.

Bob Dylan does not own, and probably does not approve of, these silly pictures.

More information on this song is available elsewhere, but I know that it is a cover, and believe it was recorded during the "New Morning" sessions in the summer of 1970. This is not the version recently released on Another Self Portrait.

This is taken from the single. I can hear the crackles. Great. Sometimes better than all this perfect sounding stuff.

I was disappointed that the Other Self portrait version wasn't this one. I love it. Got it on an old 45 somewhere.

Thanks for commenting :) Hate to disagree with you, but his singing on this version just seems a little more complex, phrases are a little more drawn out and emotional. Like the line "on the nights that I would ride" for instance. Anyways, glad you enjoyed.

the version from the new Album "Another Self Portait" is even better - another haunting piano version ...

I first heard this gem as the flip side of the single Watching The River Flow. It blew me away that very first listen and every time since. Dylan has never sounded so achingly tender. The song allows the listener to fill in so much of the story line.
