The music speaks for its self and old Texans remember Bloodrock- the band who was managed by Terry Knight who also managed Grand Funk .. If he pushed BR like he did GFR then maybe they would be more known. But that's okay Bloodrock still rocks it in Texas..

Bloodrock was originally known as Texas. Saw them at the Oklahoma City rock festival just before the release of their first album. Saw 'em a year later open for Hendrix at Oklahoma University. They were awesome.

I was a big Bloodrock fan back in the day. Our band played lots of Grand Funk and Bloodrock. In 1992, four of the members of our old band, along with my sister, Helen, got together in our hometown when we all just happened to be in town at the same time for Christmas. I rented a hall, we set up our gear and pull out an old song list to see how much of that stuff we still remembered. Since we didn't have our original lead singer, I sang lead and played lead guitar as we jogged our memories on the Bloodrock tune, "Lucky In The Morning". Check it out and let me know what you think! The drummer, Rick Cobb, was a friend and classmate of Meat Loaf in high school in Dallas. Meat Loaf mentions in his autobiography how Cobb's father was a pilot for an oil company and would give the two of them free rides in his plane. Unfortunately, Meat Loaf committed the mortal sin of getting the name of his band wrong in the book (Red Rock). Shame on you, Meat Loaf!

One of the best "classic" rock bands of all-time....that most older people have never heard about. A true rocker will know who this band is.

The lead singer in this video was the original drummer on their 1st record...met these guys at a record signing in Atlanta back in the day. They jammed with the Allman Brothers Band at the free stage at the 2nd Atlanta Pop festival. These guys were from Texas, and they were good people. Glad to have known them.

A Magnificent album and "Lucky in the Morning" is one fantastic song. I never would have heard of it, had I not worked with Mike Gotto. I lived in the Chicago area and we had WXRT, that played EVERYTHING once, but I never heard that. Thank you Mike!

Great story!! I learned early on that helping bands break down their equipment after a gig was a real shortcut to friendship :) What a shock it must have been when you realized who owned the carpet you were cleaning, heh heh :)

The lead singer was THE SON Of Herman LAY--Lay's Potato Chips--and they used to play at a tiny club across highway from Shepherd AIR FORCE BASE in Wichita Falls!!! Id Go Get My Music Friends & Go Listen & Have A Few cold Ones, Then We'd Help them pack up the Hammond D-3 (Organ) Put it on a dolly & Load Into a Pickup bed--Go Back To Dallas! 25 years later, I was cleaning Carpet in HIS HOME & Saw the 40 or so Gold Records--Then Meet Him & Remind Him of The Connection! He Remembered Us Helping!
