This song sounds absolutely perfect for 007 ! think it would have outlasted Eastons's version thru the course of time !

Definitely one of the better unused Bond songs. Sounds great!

Reading the lyrics, this song would be better suited for "The Spy Who Loved Me," or some other Bond movie where two spies are directly acting against each other but ultimately aiming for the same goal. This would have been a great Bond theme, no matter what!

I like Cherie Currie's version a lot. Good song.

@ whirlwindjourney ("This is a good song, but it's not very Bond sounding, and it wouldn't have fit with that movie at all"): HOW can you miss all the Bond-references? This track is steeped in zillions of parts that are ready to be filled with John Barry-like orchestration. Anyway... I heard Alison Goldfrapp might be up for a Bond-theme... which'd be really cool...

Sounds very Bond. I prefer this to the shitty Sheena Easton one.

I would have kept it in and used it for the closing credits too!

The Concise Statement

Not so much a bad song as it is a case of unfortunate timing. If anyone remembers, 'For Your Eyes Only' was designed to pull Moore's Bond back from the brink of fantasy after 'Moonraker', so a more sober film required a more sincere and less playful sound. When the franchise found itself in the same conundrum 25 years later with Casino Royale following Die Another Day, Chris Cornell would be heard running, screaming in the opposite stylistic direction from Madonna.

would have been better with more strings and brass but still very good and very Bondesque

This is a good song, but it's not very Bond sounding, and it wouldn't have fit with that movie at all.

thanks for the tip - now why does that name sound familiar? didnt Cherie C. do a Blondie cover on that weird CD of blondie covers that no one except me liked (i forget the name of it - all covers were pretty much dark and brooding)? as far as this vs. Sheena Easton, this wins hands down with me. i hate sheeena easton and thought she was a boring rube that pulled the whore routine to regain her shortlived popularity.

I pretty much like Blondie and pretty much despise Sheena Easton but I think her song written by Bill Conti and Michael Leeson is definitely the better one both musically and lyrically. After Lulu's Man With The Golden Gun debacle (not her fault, John Barry later admitted Man With The Golden Gun was his worst effort, and in fact I actually like that song except for the embarrassing and juvenile "who will he bang" part) the producers shied from outright rock until Duran Duran/View To A Kill

Remember watching Sheena Easton get her big break, good Bond song, and I love this Blondie one, one of my boyhood fave bands along with The Police.

Listen to Cherie Currie's cover of this song. Now THAT should have been the theme. Please trust me on this one, you won't regret it

How was this not in the movie? I wouldn't have to skip the intro each time I watch it.
