One of the most beautiful women in the world with the voice of an angel. I had such a crush on her. Still do I guess.

The Oldsmobile 442 was a powerful muscle car and the 442 is a type of engine.

After hearing many versions and working in many factories in Detroit, I think the end line is, "And they';re all GONE just like me. Yeeeaaah! I really do. Not trying to be snotty but the other way makes no sense to me and my way sounds like I hear it on the recordings. Cut it out.

Blondie's early stuff was pure genius, fusing punk with pop and giving it a pretty face!

Interestingly enough I find that most of the early Ramones stuff were a bit on the bubblegum side of punk but Blondie's punk material has more bite and seriousness.

By today's standards, you can call them Pop, but ONLY because they were trail blazers and modern popular music copies a lot of what they did. They were certainly NOT Pop in their time. Especially in the earlier albums. They were NEVER played on top 40 stations, even Heart of Glass. You really only heard them on alternative stations. Pop during that time was Hall and Oats, Genesis, Captain & Tennille, The Carpenters, Bee Gees...NOT Blondie. They were American PUNK/New Wave.

Well don't forget their hits either. They played "call me" fifty times for every time they played "you know her" once.

If you REALLY listen to all of their songs, even the lesser known album cuts, then they are really a rock/pop hybrid band, not pure pop. Don't just count the hits.

Whatever you say.

Rock.Pop. New Wave. Bunch of other things. The Beatles and Stones were "pop" too so pretty good company. Rock is pretty much dead. The bands that had a little diversity survive and remain interesting.

Listen to any other song by Blondie and it's pop. If you think Blondie are pop, you're (basically) right.

*Detroit 442* :- Ok I'm shutting down for a little while as I have loads of photographs to process and "fiddle about" with. I was meant to make a start yesterday but things kept getting in the way and before I knew it the day was over and I had achieved very little. I will drop in on G+ later and post some images (as usual). For the time being I will leave you with this vintage *Blondie* song which has been running around in my head since hearing the news today about Detroit filing for bankruptcy.
