I never really considered Blenderhead as emo. Their last album had some elements of emo in it, but I always categorized them as indie rock.

Such a trip watching these old Tomfest videos I've been seeing pop up, really brings back great memories!

I wasn't aware of that. Not trying to argue. I was into many T&N bands then, too. In fact T&N was largely responsible for showing me that there was real punk rock and hardcore within the genre of Christian music. If T&N called them emo b4 the second album, fine. However, I will disagree strongly with T&N if the label of "emo" was placed upon the music of Blenderhead's first album "Prime Candidate For Burnout." That was pure, excellent, unique Punk rock. Peace.

The label "emo" was put on them by Tooth and Nail Records in 1995 BEFORE the second album came out. I was a T&N diehard back then and bought almost all of their CDs. In one of my CDs, can't remember which one but it was an early one, there was a mini-catalog of T&N releases. Tooth and Nail labeled the band as "emo" back then. I asked a classmate what it meant, and they told me, "Oh it means emotional."

Yes, as I said, they took the label emo when they put out an emo album, which was their second LP I forget the name, but I really didn't like it becaue their punk release was so good.

No, inside the Tooth and Nail catalog back in 1995. They were labeled as punk/hardcore/emo. And they were the first band I ever saw being called "emo." I didn't even know what the term meant back then.

Blenderhead is not emo here in this video, during the period of the song Power Trip, they were straightforward punk rock, almost-80s-style. With their other release they did go emo, which ruined this great band.

Also, Blenderhead have the honor of being the FIRST band I had ever seen labeled as "Emo." It was inside the Tooth and Nail catalog.

My bud and I had plans to travel up to Oregon and catch Tomfest because we were both really into the scene here in Southern California. Gosh, these were such good times for me as a teenager. I had this album along with all the other early T&N releases. I could never understand these guys though, how many guys were actually in the band, etc. Never got to see them in concert funny enough. Of course the REALLY bizarre T&N band was Don't Know. Made that one E.P. and then they vanished!

I met Matt Powers at Cornerstone 2009. Supernice guy. When I said he was a Tooth and Nail legend, he was like "I wouldn't go that far" lol.
