Great era!1970s & 80s: Mixed with soft pop. Age of Outlaw country. The great Golden Age of country music IMHO.1990s and 2000s: Garth Brooks. Some great attempts to revitalize, but country ends up mixing with pop and rock.Present: Rock, punk, and rap are all mixed/mixing freely with modern country.As it's own art form, yeah, it's dead brother. This song is really good, but obviously has a lot of soft rock mixed in. Thankfully we live in a time where you can easily go back and listen to all the old songs!

Country got swallowed by the music industry which is all about money. So they had to put some pop in it, So that it would reach a wider audience. In doing so they killed true country and now we have a hybrid version that's more like pop with a dash of country on top.
