They are beautiful, warm and friendly, and extremely talented. They are the three lovely ladies from Cape Town who form the musical group BlackByrd. These three gorgeous girls have travelled an adventurous and interesting journey together for the past three years, initially uniting as an exciting sexy trio under the name La Vuvuzela, and becoming well-known for their energetic and dynamic dancing and singing routines.
In this format Tarryn Lamb, Samantha Heldsinger and Tamsyn Maker achieved great success performing as La Vuvuzela, with a string of big hits, including 'Be Mine Tonight', 'Five More Minutes', and 'In Stereo', together with a 2010 SAMA nomination for best English Pop Album. Although the three girls have changed their music style and are following a new career direction, La Vuvuzela continues with new members and exciting new songs.
Moving forward, the trio had a brief period under the name LadyLicious, eventually coming of age and evolving into their current more meaningful form, yet still maintaining the infectious youth and exuberance for which they have become well-known. Between them the girls draw on experiences gained from theatre school, Vaudeville appearances, acting, modelling, dancing and singing, to mould their stage performance into a fun-filled dynamic package that goes far beyond the power and pleasure of their highly rated vocals and stunning visual appeal.
The girls' well-choreographed exciting live act has been developed into a tight-knit, highly professional unit. They have featured prominently, and to enthusiastic acclaim, at many prestigious live events around South Africa and surrounding countries. Apart from being in huge demand at major corporate functions, events such as Cape Town's Kfm K-Day and Johannesburg's Highveld 94.7 Jo'burg Day, attended by twenty thousand avid fans, have ensured the good-standing and excellent reputation of Tarryn, Samantha and Tamsyn as a group. The girls, with their stunning good looks, professional and energetic dance routines and outstanding rapport with their audiences, topped off with Tarryn's absolutely superb vocal talents, have enthralled and captivated audiences of all kinds, and they have proved to be a huge success wherever they perform.
Now BlackByrd has arrived, presenting quality music composed and sung by the amazing Tarryn Lamb, accompanied by her two soul sisters, Samantha Heldsinger and Tamsyn Maker. Having survived and grown from the many trials and adventures that the music business heaps upon artists, the girls have grown into a tight-knit unit that is not only strong musically, but exudes a togetherness that is clear for all to see. They are the epitome of the 'Three Musketeers' credo, 'All for One and One for All'. Their warm friendly natures and caring for each other, as well as those around them, makes them immensely likeable, and an instant success with all with whom they come into contact.
This deep quality comes through clearly in the writing and performance of their all new original songs. The album, which is signed to EMI SA, is scheduled for release in September, and is being launched by the release of one of Tarryn's most meaningful and sincere self-penned ballads, 'All for Me'. The song has a strong message for all the women of South Africa, encouraging them to believe in themselves, stand up for what is right, and find their true and happy place in life. Deservedly, the song has been selected by SABC3 to endorse its promotional campaign highlighting Women's Month this August. Other great single tracks will follow in due course, proving that BlackByrd is not just about pretty girls, but about real quality music made to savour and appreciate.
With Tarryn adding keyboards and guitar to her superb vocal skills, and Sam and Tammy accompanying her on guitar, the ladies of BlackByrd are bringing a wholesome and special musical sincerity and wonderful extra dimension to their already charming stage performances. BlackByrd delivers original music of the highest quality, firmly enhanced by great personalities, enormous talent and excellent live presence.
