I think Ray could have REALLY brought Sabbath back to life if he would have stayed with the band. He just had that 70's voice. But thank God for Badlands.

Maybe it was because I didnt care much for his voice in that song, so I never paid attention to that song. If it was turned down, it would have been at least the main riffs that were lowered and I think in that particular song, it was recorded all at once, the rest were recorded without the solo, then had the solo mixed in. But after listening to it again, I still think it should have been in a higher mix, but it was probably because I zoned out during the song and zoned back in for Nightmare.

well maybe i have crazy hearing but i always heard the guitar solo. i never thought it even sounded quiet. and the thing is if tony isnt singing during the solo, why would they need to turn anything down? just turn it all the way up, it doesnt make a difference.

actually, what I meant by "weaker voice" is one thats not as open. Martin had a decent range, but he didnt work on in a way to open it up. Even on the Eternal Idol, when he sings, his voice sounds really young.

Dio had a great voice that was very high and extensive, but when he opened to f or ff in his high register, it turned into a scream, my favorite song is Heaven and Hell, because the bass line allowed him so much room to work. I would say Dio is 3rd, after Gillen and Hughes.

so I think I know what I am talking about.

Ok first, I haven't touched drugs in years, second his voice is/was weak because he didnt receive proper training, or he might have and just not trained correctly; tutors can only do so much, the rest is all you, and he couldn't hit the high notes Gillen could because he was more Baritonish than the Tenor Gillen. I never said he sung during the solo and the guitar IS on a lower mix on the album. I dont know why, but I can safely reason that it's because of Tony's voice. I am a singer music major

are you high? martin's voice isn't weak (a) he doesn't sing during the solo (b) and the solo is perfectly audible on the album version (c). seriously, what are you talking about?

I didnt notice the awesome guitar solo in the song until I heard the demo. On the album I think, the guitar was low in the mix to make room for Martins weak voice, so the guitar solo was something I never caught until listening to the demo, I even had to listen to the album version to make sure it was there, lol!

Dio had a different voice that sounded better in High register, not screaming. Heaven and Hell was great, Mob Rules was so so, Dehumanizer sucked, and Devil You Know was different, but better than Mob Rules, vocally anyway.
