I have worked for and with him for 25 years , in recording studios ,art galleries and live on stage , hundreds of times. You know fuck all about him and what he believes , he hasn't been on a stage since the ICA 5 years ago and he has never EVER rocked out. Good to see the age old English tradition of putting people down is alive and kicking. Too many fools spouting about pretence while Billy continues to plough the same groove that he has done since 1977, still up there on stage rocking out, still publishing books, painting every week and filling galleries in Europe. If he is at all pretentious then it'll be because he's done it knowingly through choice. I personally don't think he is pretentious - he's a man who is in touch with himself, who knows his own mind, knows what he likes and isn't shy of expressing himself in the way he chooses to. And if you think that is being pretentious then I think you are pretentious for thinking everybody else is pretentious. Jesus Christ... The man is enjoying a coffee in a shop of his choosing on Chatham high street!

say what you will...he's still an underdog and an icon. with or without thee mustache. he's made me strive to be a better artist and musician. he's made me want to be more honest and open with my words and visuals...and i have great respect for that.
